Learning #1: When we think that we need God less, we often pursue God less.

Revelation 3:15-16 (NLT) - I know all the things you do, that you are neither hot nor cold. I wish that you were one or the other! But since you are like lukewarm water, neither hot nor cold, I will spit you out of my mouth!

Revelation 3:17 (NLT) - You say, ‘I am rich. I have everything I want. I don’t need a thing!’

Learning #2: Self-sufficiency creates distractions in our relationship with God.

Mark 4:19 (NLT) - All too quickly the message is crowded out by the worries of this life, the lure of wealth, and the desire for other things, so no fruit is produced.

Hebrews 2:1 (NLT) - So we must listen very carefully to the truth we have heard, or we may drift away from it.

Learning #3: Taking inventory helps us to see our priorities in life.

2 Timothy 3:2-5 (NLT) - For people will love only themselves and their money. They will be boastful and proud, scoffing at God, disobedient to their parents, and ungrateful. They will consider nothing sacred. They will be unloving and unforgiving; they will slander others and have no self-control. They will be cruel and hate what is good. They will betray their friends, be reckless, be puffed up with pride, and love pleasure rather than God. They will act religious, but they will reject the power that could make them godly.

1 John 2:15 (NLT) - Do not love this world nor the things it offers you.

Learning #4: We can back on track with God by taking one small step of faith each day.

John 15:5 (NLT) - Yes, I am the vine; you are the branches. Those who remain in me, and I in them, will produce much fruit. For apart from me you can do nothing.
